Bert Mutch Clinic

Chestnut Hill is eagerly preparing for a two-day clinic with Hugh “Bert” Mutch on April 16 and 17. Bert is a successful and experienced horseman, and has benefitted from riding with some of the best riders in the world, including his father, Ronnie Mutch, as well as Bertland DeNemethy, Eddie Macken and Michael Matz.  As a junior, Bert won the USEF Medal Finals, and then went on to win the National PHA finals and gold medals in both the USEF finals and the Prix de Nations Junior Jumper Finals, all in the year 1978.

After his successful junior career, Bert moved into the professional ranks and won his first Grand Prix in 1979 at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show aboard Boston Taxi.  He joined legendary rider/trainer Rodney Jenkins in 1981 where he rode and trained both hunters and jumpers, posting wins from coast to coast.

In the early 1990’s, Bert moved to Woodside, CA where he worked as the rider and trainer for Sam and Libby Edelman’s S&L Farm.  He also successfully represented the USET and the United States on several occasions in both domestic and international competition.

Bert and his wife, Jennifer, have recently relocated from Wellington, FL, where he privately trained a family with three children.  Under his tutelage, the children accumulated innumerable championships and circuit awards in Palm Beach and up and down the East Coast.

Bert and Jennifer now reside in San Francisco, CA.
